OUTSTANDING
PERFORMANCE 3M Filtrete Vacuum Filter Bag |
Introducing
the 3M Filtrete Vacuum Filter Bag, the bag that outperforms every other vacuum bag your
customers have ever used. And as you'll see, it's also designed to financially outperform
every vacuum bag you've ever stocked.
The key to the Filtrete vacuum filter bag's performance is the use of a special blend of
Filtrete fibers as the filtering material in the bag. Filtrete media is made of 100% polypropylene fibers that are electrostatically
charged to capture small particles.
While ordinary paper bags can pass as much as 50% of the problem particles like dust, pet
dander, mold and bacteria back into the air, Filtrete vacuum filter bags capture more than
95% of all micro particles.
So instead of sending particles into the air for your customers to breathe or to settle on
their carpet and furniture, Filtrete vacuum filter bags trap the particles. |
Filtrete
vacuum cleaner bags capture more than 95% of all micro-particles 0.3 microns. Particles like dust, pet dander, mold and bacteria. |

|
Other
innovations like heat-sealed seams and a specially designed collar gasket work to prevent
the dust and other particles collected in the bag from getting back into the air.
Because the Filtrete vacuum filter bag offers the lowest pressure drop or resistance to
air flow of any consumer vacuum bag, it actually improves a vacuum's performance during
use.
Filtrete vacuum
filter bags even last up to two times longer. While, ordinary bags quit working when they
are about half-full, the Filtrete vacuum filter bag keeps working with a minimum loss of
suction. |

Answers to the
Most Commonly asked Questions about the 3M Vacuum Cleaner Bag |
| 1. How is the 3M
Filtrete Vacuum Filter Bag ( Vacuum Cleaner Bag ) different from ordinary paper bags and
the new lined-paper bags (2 Ply Micro Lined) ? Most
other vacuum bags, including lined-paper bags, are made of paper. Paper products simply do
not have the high level of performance (efficiency and air flow) that the Filtrete media
has. For capturing problem particles of dust, pet dander, mold, and bacteria, the Filtrete
vacuum filter bag is up to 12 times more efficient than ordinary paper bags and up to 5
times more effective than lined-paper bags. While the Filtrete vacuum filter bag captures
more than 95% of all micro particles, ordinary paper bags can pass as much as 50% of the
problem particles back into the air. The Filtrete vacuum filter bag also offers the lowest
pressure drop or resistance to air flow of any consumer vacuum bag. Having the lowest
resistance to air flow means the Filtrete vacuum filter bag creates the best suction
performance. |
| 2. How is the
Filtrete Vacuum Cleaner Bag able to outperform all other vacuum bags on the market? The key to the Filtrete vacuum filter bag's
performance is the use of a special blend of Filtrete fibers as the filtering material in
the bag. Filtrete media is made of 100%
polypropylene fibers that are
electrostatically charged to capture small particles. And because particles are trapped
throughout the depth or thickness of the material, the media can collect more particles
without clogging and reducing air flow. |
| 3. Does the Filtrete
vacuum filter bag "flat" bag design hold as much dust as conventional
"gusseted" bags? Yes. The new 3M design has virtually the
same volume or capacity as other bags. Under normal operation, it should last up to two
times longer. While ordinary bags quit working when they are about half full, the Filtrete
vacuum filter bag keeps working with a minimum loss of suction. |
| 4. Why doesn't the
Filtrete Vacuum Cleaner Bag offer an anti-bacterial coating (i.e. Bactrastat* and
Sanitized*) that destroys germs and bacteria? For these coatings or agents to work, they must come into
contact with the contaminant in the bag. This amounts to 1% or less of the particles in a
full bag. So more than 99% of the germs and bacteria are unaffected. Because of the very
limited benefit of these agents, we see little, if any, added value to the customer. |
| 5. Why did 3M focus
on vacuum cleaner bags that fit upright vacuum cleaners? The North American market for vacuum bags is
dominated (75% market share) by upright-style vacuums versus canister-style vacuums. The
initial 3M product offerings address the most popular upright models purchased. 3M can and
will expand its product line in the fixture to include other uprights and canister-style
vacuum cleaners. |
| 6. What is a HEPA
filter and how does it compare to the Filtrete Vacuum Cleaner Bag? A HEPA filter, by its definition, should be 99.97%
or more efficient at 0.3 micron DOP particles. Like the Filtrete vacuum filter bag, HEPA filters are very efficient at
removing small particles. But unlike the Filtrete media, they are very restrictive to air
flow and can cause a pressure drop that is 10 times higher than the Filtrete vacuum filter
bag media. This gives the Filtrete bag a significant advantage in suction performance. In
addition, because the HEPA media is very restrictive, dirty air tends to bypass the filter
by leaking around the filter. The low pressure drop in combination with a creative collar
design and heat seal of the Filtrete vacuum filter bag prevents this problem. A true HEPA
filter is also very expensive, usually selling for more than $80 each, while the Filtrete
vacuum filter bag sells for about $5 each. |
